Description Extended Information

Dragon DRR60088 German Sd. Kfz. 161 PzKpfw IV Ausf. F2 (G) Medium Tank - Panzer Regiment 15, 11.Panzer Division, Russia, 1942 (1:72 Scale) "If the tank succeeds, then victory follows."
- Major-General Heinz Guderian, "Achtung Panzer!"

Just one month prior to the commencement of "Operation Typhoon" (the German assault on Moscow) the Waffenamt was scheduled to begin installing the long-barreled 7.5cm KwK gun on its new Mark IV Ausf G tanks. However, when the Wehrmacht encountered the superior Russian KV-1 and T-34 tanks during the summer campaigning season, a decision was made to mount the 7.5cm KwK40 L/43 gun onto as many existing Mark IVs as possible. Since the new gun fired larger rounds than the short-barreled gun mounted on the F1 tanks, ammunition storage capacity had to be increased and the crew compartment had to be re-arranged to accommodate the modifications.

This particular 1:72 scale replica of a PzKpfw IV Ausf. F2(G) medium tank was attached to Panzer Regiment 15, 11.Panzer Division, then deployed to the Eastern Front during 1942. Sold Out!

Historical Account: "Through it All" - 11.Panzer Division was formed in August 1940 and fought in the Balkans campaign. It saw action on the southern sector of the Eastern front from June to October 1941 before it was transferred to the central sector, where it remained until June 1942 when it returned south. It fought at Belgorod, Kursk, and Krivoj Rog, but suffered heavy losses when it was encircled at Kresun, south of Kiev.

Afterwards, it was transferred to France for refitting in June 1944 where it absorbed the 273.Reserve Panzer Division. It opposed the allied landings in southern France before being withdrawn through France and into Germany. It fought in the Ardennes and later near Trier and Remagen before surrendering to the US Army at the end of the war.

Radio aerial was broken, but I'm sure I would have eventually snapped it off myself. I'm not fretting about it. Everything else just fine, as with other two vehicles I ordered (see below)
Wonderful turn-around time from time of order to delivery.
