Hobby Master Catches Hell and is Proud of It!
Sure, it's a play on words, but Hobby Master has quickly become the turn to company that is willing to produce some of the less obscure aircraft and liveries in the military market. For instance, when it comes to World War II, the manufacturer has annouced a third pattern in their upcoming Curtiss SB2C Helldiver dive-bomber series (HA2203), this one based on a plane embarked upon the USS Bunker Hill. Fast forwarding to the Vietnam War, the company intends to offer a Royal Australian Air Force F-4E Phantom fighter-bomber (HA1908), awash in a dark southeast asia camouflage pattern. And, if that isn't enough, they're toying with a Taiwanese Mirage 2000-5 jet fighter, handsomely adorned in a blue-on-blue paint scheme (HA1609). Other aircraft are also in the mix, all scheduled for an early 2009 release...[posted 11/16/2008]

Hobby Master Streaks Down MiG Alley
As we reported several weeks ago, Hobby Master plans to turn back the hands of time once again by modelling the MiG 15. The scourge of western air forces during the Korean Conflict, Hobby Master's 1:72 scale swept wing fighter will initially be offered in two versions: one portraying Russian Colonel Yevgeni Pepelyayev's fighter when he took wing with the North Korean Air Force and a second flown by the North Korean's 351st Aviapolk (Night Fighters), based out of Antung, China, during 1953. Both aircraft will retail for $41.99, with a pre-order price of just $37.99. ....[posted 9/25/2008]

Hobby Master Turns 'n Burns With the Best of 'Em!
Looking to extend their lead in the diecast military aircraft space, Hobby Master today displayed the first set of images for their upcoming F-100 Super Sabre. Based on a plane flown by Lt. Col. Harold Comstock, who was attached to the 416th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 27th Tactical Fighter Wing, based out of Bien Hoa Air Base during July 1966, their sleek mirrored-finish offering looks every bit as good as the real thing. The plane is still on track for an August release, with the second version jetting off not-too-far-behind.

In other news, the manufacturer has confirmed their intent to model four different versions of the Bristol Beaufighter, although its not clear in what order they will be presented. A MiG 15, F-105 Thunderchief, and Aichi Val are also on the slate, although information is still sketchy regarding these keenly requested 1:72 scale models.....[posted 7/17/2008]

Hobby Master's Hellions of Dawn
In keeping with their goal of becoming the preeminent maker of diecast aircraft, Hobby Master today announced their intent to model the Curtiss Helldiver. Replicated in 1:72 scale, the Curtiss SB2C Helldiver was a low-wing monoplane designed for dive-bombing duties. Unfortunately, the Helldiver didnt live up to expectations, instead becoming one of the most disaster prone aircraft then serving with the US Navy during WWII. Hobby Master's rendition will model their aircraft in all its glaring detail, right down to the oversized tail section and strengthened landing gear. Look for their inaugural offering sometime in the 3rd quarter...[posted 7/3/2008]

In the air, aviation buffs can lay claim to a 1:48 scale Mk XVIII Supermarine Spitfire, which was used with great distinction during the Korean Conflict. Also taking wing will be a 1:72 scale German F-4F Phantom fighter-bomber, a third take on the Japanese Nakajima B5N2 Kate level bomber, and a French SBD-5 Dauntless dive-bomber. On a personal note, its truly amazing to see a relative newcomer such as Hobby Master beating the pants off of some of the more entrenched favorites, continually beating them to the punch by listening to their collecting constituency...[posted 6/10/2008]

Hobby Master Bulks Up
To mark the end of Chinese New Year and the opening of the American International Toy Fair, Hobby Master shed light on some of their 2nd Quarter offerings. In the air, look for their first ever 1:72 scale rendition of a Japanese Nakajima B5N "Kate" Torpedo plane, which was embarked upon the carrier Zuikaku at the Battle of Pearl Harbor. Also in the hopper are a 1:72 scale replica of a Midway-based Brewster Buffalo fighter, as well as a NASA F-104N chase plane. On the ground, the Soviet arsenal gets a boost with a winter camouflage T-55 tank, and 1:48 scale Polish M4 Sherman tank. No doubt other models will join the mix, some having been previously announced....[posted 2/17/2008]

Phantom of the Opera?
In a bid to stay one step ahead of the competition, Hobby Master announced several new aircraft today, among them two F-4 Phantom II fighter-bombers. The first iteration is a D variant, which was piloted by Richard "Steve" Richie during Operation Linebacker II, the unrestricted bombing campaign over North Vietnam in 1972. The second mount is reported to be a J variant, which was flown by Randy "Duke" Cunningham, one of the few aces to emerge from the Vietnam Conflict.

In other news, the manufacturer will release an A-4F Skyhawk, a modified P-39/400 Airacobra, and a Mirage 2000-01 which wowed the crowds at the Paris Air Show. Also up for consideration is a new limited edition 1:48 scale M4A3 Sherman tank. Pix were also supplied for their upcoming 1:72 scale M10 Wolverine tank destroyer and Centurion Mk.6 main battle tank...[posted 1/3/2008]
