Hobby Master Bulks Up on Combat Vehicles
Hobby Master's one-two punch of providing first class warplanes and military vehicles to their worldwide audience got a shot-in-the-arm with the announcement that three additional repainted vehicles are on the docket this spring. The first is a whitewashed M24 Chaffee (HG3606) which served with distinction towards the end of WWII. Next up for consideration is a winterized M46 Patton tank (HG3703), then assigned to an unidentified unit at the tail end of the Korean Conflict. Lastly, the company is introducing a revamped T-55 tank (HG3309), which is decorated in East German markings. Three sweet-looking battle tanks headed our way sometime in June...[posted 4/16/2009]

Hobby Master Subscribes to Supply Side Economics
While there are dozens upon dozens of armored fighting vehicle replicas crafted in 1:72 scale, there is, nevertheless, a dearth of soft-skinned vehicles available to collectors. Looking to correct this oversight and bring balance to the universe, Hobby Master plans to offer two support vehicles later this spring, thus elongating their logistical tail. The first two vehicles are based upon the German-built Opel Blitz, one representing a 3-ton troop transport (HG3901) and the second modelling a Fuel Servicing vehicle (HG3902). Both are painted in a dark yellow scheme, indicating they served with a Luftwaffe unit during the opening phases of World War II...[posted 3/12/2009]

Hobby Master Takes the Lead
It takes a certain measure of courage to try something new when you could just as easily play it safe by hanging back with the tried-and-true. In the case of Hobby Master, the company is sticking its neck out by offering a pair of diminutive armored fighting vehicles that others might have easily ignored. Due out in January, the first vehicle is a US-built M8 light armored car (HG3801) while the second, a derivative of the M8, will be an M20 armored car (HG3802). Offered in the standard olive drab pattern of the World War II era US Army, these small but important players in mid-twentieth century mobile warfare will likely be greeted with great fanfare when they usher in the New Year....[posted 11/14/2008]

Hobby Master Takes Aim at the R/C Market
In an effort to broaden its appeal and court remote control veterans, Hobby Master has announced their intent to dabble once again in the R/C market. Two 1:48 scale military vehicles will be offered in September, one based on a King Tiger Ausf. B heavy tank and the other on a Russian JS-2 Stalin tank. Each vehicle will carry a retail price of $83.99, but if you pre-order now, we'll let 'em scare the family cat for just $79.99....[posted 6/16/2008]

Hobby Master Turns Up the Diecast Heat
Fresh after shipping out a plethora of new vehicles and aircraft comes word that Hobby Master will be offering a bunch of new SKU's in the second quarter. Besides the usual mix of repaints, the company plans on offering a 1:72 scale M45 Pershing, which was equipped with a 105mm howitzer. On the aviation front, look forward to seeing their first ever North American F-100D Super Sabre, a more powerful and larger version of the original F-86 Sabre. We're currently in the process of adding all the new weaponry to our site and should have the entire stockpile posted by tonight....[posted 3/19/2008]

The Chinese Type 59 (Chinese industrial designation: WZ120) Main Battle Tank is a Chinese produced version of the ubiquitous Soviet T-54A tank. The first vehicles were produced in 1958 and it was accepted into service in 1959, with serial production beginning in 1963.

In 1929, GM acquired the engine producer Adam Opel AG, based in Russelsheim, Germany, and with it, one of the most well regarded manufacturing plants in Europe. In the early 1930's, Opel introduced a fast light truck and called it Opel Blitz (lightning) and in 1935 opened the best and most modern truck factory in the world in Brandenburg. Although light in weight, the Blitz design could carry a considerable payload.

The M46 was an improved M26 Pershing (sometimes named Pershing II) tank and one of the U.S army's principal main battle tanks of the Cold War, with models in service from 1949 to the mid 1950s. It was widely used by some U.S. Cold War allies, especially other NATO countries. The M46 tank was designed to replace the previous M26 Pershings and M4 Shermans.

The M24 Chaffee - arguably the best light tank of World War II - was a fast, lightly armored vehicle with the ability to deliver relatively large caliber direct fire thanks to its excellent 75 mm M6 gun. More than 4,000 vehicles were produced by Cadillac and Massey-Harris from 1943-45.

The Centurion was Britain's first attempt to produce a universal tank and do away with divisions between the infantry tanks, such as the Matilda, and cruiser tanks like the Comet. In 1943, after a succession of unfortunate tank designs, the British War Office commissioned a new specification calling for a tank weighing 40-tons that offered durability, reliability, and the ability to withstand a direct hit from a German 88mm gun.
