Description Extended Information

Hobby Master HA1318 USAF Fairchild A-10C Thunderbolt II Ground Attack Aircraft - 188th Fighter Wing, Arkansas Air National Guard, 2011 [Low-Vis Scheme] (1:72 Scale) "Obsolete weapons do not deter."
- British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher

The A-10 and OA-10 Thunderbolt IIs are the first Air Force aircraft designed specifically for close air support of ground forces. They are simple, effective, and highly survivable twin-engine jet aircraft that can be used against all ground targets, especially tanks and other armored vehicles. The first production A-10A was delivered to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, AZ., in October 1975.

The aircraft can carry a wide variety of ordnance under its wings and nose, loiter on-station for long periods of time, and fly over a wide combat radius, making it an ideal warrior on today's battlefield. In the Gulf War, A-10s, with a mission capable rate of 95.7 percent, flew 8,100 sorties and launched 90 percent of the AGM-65 Maverick missiles used in-country.

This particular 1:72 scale replica of a USAF Fairchild A-10C Thunderbolt II Ground Attack Aircraft that was attached to the 188th Fighter Wing, Arkansas Air National Guard, during 2011. Now in stock!

Historical Account: "Total Force" - Under the "Total Force" concept, Arkansas Air National Guard units are considered to be Air Reserve Components (ARC) of the United States Air Force (USAF). Arkansas ANG units are trained and equipped by the Air Force and are operationally gained by a Major Command of the USAF if federalized. In addition, the Arkansas Air National Guard forces are assigned to Air Expeditionary Forces and are subject to deployment tasking orders along with their active duty and Air Force Reserve counterparts in their assigned cycle deployment window.

Along with their federal reserve obligations, as state militia units the elements of the Arkansas ANG are subject to being activated by order of the Governor to provide protection of life and property, and preserve peace, order and public safety. State missions include disaster relief in times of earthquakes, hurricanes, floods and forest fires, search and rescue, protection of vital public services, and support to civil defense.
