SkyMax Models Takes Flying Lessons
Looking to expand their product portfolio, SkyMax Models has announced plans to offer a 1:72 scale version of the BAC Provost jet trainer (SM7001). Used to help get RAF pilots up to speed in high-g, jet-on-jet maneuvering, the BAC Provost became an important aircraft during the Cold War, and was even modified to carry weapons in the form of the BAC Strikemaster. SkyMax Fires Up Its Jet Engines
We've been waiting with baited breath to see what SkyMax Models could come up with in the age of the jet aircraft and we sure weren't disappointed. Looks like a winner from where we're sitting...[posted 10/14/2009]

SkyMax Lives Up to its Name with the Republic F-84 Thunderjet
With all the documentaries and books available, it was perhaps just a matter of time before someone got around to replicating Republic's F-84 Thunderjet. Designed as a straight wing jet fighter and employed during the early portion of the Korean War, The Thunderjet never truly lived up to its name, thanks in large part to the introduction of the faster and more nimble Russian-built MiG 15. Still, it proved its usefulness in other ways, bowing out to the North American F-86 Sabre jet as the principal means of dealing with the pesky MiG.

Now SkyMax Models plan to model the F-84 Thunderjet (SM6001) in exacting detail, claiming the warbird will be out before Christmas. There's a good chance they'll also be modeling the Thunderjet's successor, the F-84 Thunderstreak, which utilized more aerodynamic swept wings in place of the straight wing configuration. We expect the Thunderjet to do exceptionally well at retail, so make sure to submit your pre-orders early to be guaranteed one of these subsonic ...[posted 8/10/2009]

SkyMax Hedges its Bets with the Val
Long sought after by aviation buffs, SkyMax Models has chosen the Japanese Aichi D3A Val dive-bomber as its next subject. Based upon a plane embarked upon the IJN aircraft carrier Soryu, their first ever Japanese dive-bomber (SM5001) sports a distinctive paint scheme and, historically speaking, played a major role in the surprise aerial assault at Pearl Harbor. Look for their inaugural 1:72 scale Val to streak into battle sometime in November ....[posted 7/16/2009]
