Description Extended Information

The Motor Pool TMP7032 German Late Version Sd. Kfz. 171 PzKpfw V Panther Ausf. G Medium Tank - Panzer Lehr (1:35 Scale) "With this division alone, you must throw the Allies into the sea. Your objective is the coast no, not the coast, it is the sea."
- Heinz Guderian to General Fritz Bayerlein, East Prussia, January 26th, 1944

In many respects, the Panther tank was viewed as the finest armored fighting vehicle of the Second World War. Based in large part upon the Soviet's highly successful T-34 medium tank, the PzKpfw V Ausfuhrung G was built by several manufacturers including MAN, Daimler-Benz and MNH. Mounting a fearsome 7.5cm KwK42 L/70 cannon and two 7.92mm MG34 machineguns, the Panther Ausf. G represented the third and certainly the most impressive installment in the Panther series.

This particular version has been painted in a Norman camouflage scheme and was attached to the Panzer Lehr Division during the Battle for Normandy in 1944. Sold Out!

Historical Account: "Training for War" - The Panzer Lehr Division was formed at Potsdam in November 1943, comprised principally of demonstration units from the various Panzer schools. It was transferred to France in February 1944, then to Hungary in April, where it absorbed Infanterie-Lehr Regiment 901. The division returned to France shortly thereafter where it opposed the Allied landings in June. Panzer Lehr suffered heavy losses at Caen during a massive carpet bombing attack and additional losses as it withdrew across France. It was sent to the Saar for refitting and later saw action in the Ardennes during Operation "Wacht am Rhein". After the winter counteroffensive, the division was trapped in the Ruhr pocket in early 1945 and forced to surrender to the US Army in April.
