Description

Gaso.Line Gas50088MOR German sFH 18 150mm Howitzer - Towed Position, Ochre (1:50 Scale) "If the tank succeeds, then victory follows."
- Major-General Heinz Guderian, "Achtung Panzer!"

The backbone of the German medium artillery strength during World War II, the sFH 18 was developed in 1926-30, the howitzer being from Rheinmetall and the carriage from Krupp. For movement, the split trail ends were lifted on to a two-wheeled limber and the gun disconnected from the recoil system, pulled back in its cradle, and locked to the trails, so as to distribute the weight evenly. It has the distinction of being the first gun ever to be issued with a rocket-assisted shell in 1941, which gave it a maximum range of 19.000m (20,778 yards). That said, it was not very accurate and wore out the gun rather rapidly. After the war, numbers of these howitzers were used by the Albanian, Bulgarian, Czech and Portuguese armies for several years.
