Gaso.Line Modern Conflict Military Vehicles Series

Gaso.Line has developed an extensive line of diecast and resin military vehicles that, in many instances, marries a chassis from the Solido/Verem line with specially designed resin parts produced by Gaso.Line. All of the vehicles you see here are produced in limited runs, sometimes numbering only a few dozen pieces, making them valuable additions to any military enthusiast's collection. These vehicles are built and imported directly from France, making them hard to come by in the North American marketplace.

In an attempt to improve the amphibious characteristics and increase the combat power of their wheeled reconnaissance vehicles, the Soviets produced the BRDM-2 in the mid-1960s. This vehicle differs from the original BRDM in that the powerplant has been improved and moved to the rear of the vehicle, and a small 14.5mm machinegun-armed turret was added. The BTR-70 was first seen in 1978 and originally assigned the preliminary designation BTR M1978, although it was first shown in public during a Moscow parade in 1980. A successor vehicle to the BTR-60P, both vehicles have the same turret armament, while the BTR-70 has two upgraded 8-cylinder 120-hp gasoline engines which give improvements in power-to-weight ratio. The M2 Bradley is the US Army's first mechanized infantry combat vehicle. The first production models appeared in 1981 (at the height of the Cold War), and they were soon being produced at the rate of 600 per year. The hull of the M2 is made of aluminum, with a layer of space laminated armor applied for added protection. The Bradley is equipped with a 25mm Bushmaster cannon and stabilizer to allow for firing on the move. The MLRS M270 Launcher, a derivative of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle (BFV), is the standard U.S. Army platform for firing surface to surface artillery rockets and missiles. The Armored Vehicle Mounted Rocket Launcher (M270) is a full-tracked, self-propelled launcher/loader designed to launch 12 tactical rockets and re-deploy before enemy determination of launch position (shoot and scoot). The Ratel was designed by the South Africans to replace the British Saracen, when it became clear that political considerations might place future supplies in jeopardy. The prototype appeared in 1976, with the first production vehicles arriving just a year later. In 1978, Giat Industries introduced the 155 AUF1 turret with 155mm / 39-calibre ordnance. The AUF1 turret is suitable for fitting to a variety of chassis such as the AMX-30, T-72, Arjun or Leopard. The VBCI is a 26-ton wheeled infantry vehicle designed for use by mechanised infantry platoons. In 2000, the French army selected the VBCI as the successor to the AMX 10P, and GIAT is set to equip the French infantry with 550 infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) and 150 command post vehicles.

In the late 1960s, Syria was unable to receive regular shipments of 2S1 self-propelled howitzers from Russia. Still requiring mobile artillery, the military therefore decided to wed obsolete T-34 tank chassis with D-30 field guns to create their own self-propelled howitzer. Essentially, the gun was mounted on the front of the vehicle, but fired over the rear. The AMX-13 was a French light tank produced from 1953 to 1985. It served with the French Army and was exported to over twenty-five other nations. Including prototypes and export versions there are over a hundred variants including self-propelled gun, anti-aircraft systems, APCs, and TOW/ATGM versions.

The 155mm M109  self-propelled medium howitzer is a highly mobile combat support weapon. It is air transportable during Phase III of airborne operations. It has a cruising range of 220 miles at speeds up to 35 miles per hour. Combat loaded, the M109  weighs in at around 27.5 tons. Each 155mm projectile weighs approximately 98 pounds. The AMX-10RC is a wheeled tank destroyer built by GIAT. Over 300 are in service in the French Army. 120 additional vehicles were sold to Morocco (108) and Qatar (12). The AMX-10RC is a wheeled and heavily armed version of the AMX-10P combat vehicle. The AAVP7A1 is an armored assault amphibious full-tracked landing vehicle. The vehicle carries troops in water operations from ship to shore, through rough water and surf zone. It also carries troops to inland objectives after ashore. The Buffalo mine protected vehicle, built by Force Protection Inc., is based on the successful South African Casspir mine-protected vehicle. As of late 2004, the United States has a limited number of Buffaloes in service, with an order for 15 more, at a cost of $10 million. An armored recovery vehicle (ARV) is a type of armored fighting vehicle used to repair battle- or mine-damaged as well as broken-down armored vehicles during combat, or to tow them out of the danger zone for more extensive repairs.
