Description

Gaso.Line GAS50804M French GCT Auf-1 de 155mm Self-Propelled Gun - Implementation Force (IFOR) (1:50 Scale) "We will carry out a campaign characterized by shock, by surprise, by flexibility ... and by the application of overwhelming force."
- CENTCOM commander General Tommy Franks commenting on the conduct of Operation: Iraqi Freedom, March 21st, 2003

In 1978, Giat Industries introduced the 155 AUF1 turret with 155mm / 39-calibre ordnance. The AUF1 turret is suitable for fitting to a variety of chassis such as the AMX-30, T-72, Arjun or Leopard. The main operational advantages provided by the AUF1 focus on onboard navigation and fire-control systems; Firepower, with higher rates of fire, reduced manning and fully automatic loading; Survivability, through shortened engagement duration and dispersal of guns on the terrain; and Costs, with reduced men, logistic and equipment requirements.

Pictured here is a 1:50 scale French GCT Auf-1 de 155mm Self-Propelled Gun that was attached to the Implementation Force (IFOR). Sold Out!

Historical Account: "Lay Me Down on a Bed of Roses" - Two days after the Dayton Peace Agreement was signed in Paris on December 14th, 1995, NATO launched the largest military operation ever undertaken by the alliance, Operation Joint Endeavor. A 60,000 strong NATO-led multi-national Implementation Force (IFOR), started its mission on December 20th, 1995, with a one-year mandate to end hostilities, separate the Federation and Serbian forces, transfer control over remaining pockets of Federation or Serbian held territory to their respective Entities, and secure heavy weapons.

IFOR accomplished these tasks by the end of June 1996, and also opened roads, repaired bridges, freed up Sarajevo airport and key railway lines, while providing security for the September 1996 and subsequent elections.
