Historic Diecast Vehicles

Since their inception, history is replete with examples where an automobile has become synonymous with a moment in time. Whether it be JFK's trip through Dallas in his X-100 limousine or Pope John Paul II's ride through Rome in his Fiat Campagnola, these vehicles have taken their place in the annals of history, oftentimes becoming a shrine for the people they served. Many have become the subject of diecast replicas, making them important collectibles and historic icons in their own right.

Minichamps Pays Homage to President Kennedy
Minichamps has confirmed that their highly anticipated JFK X-100 Lincoln limousine is on the water and expected the middle of the month. First released almost a decade ago, the re-introduction of this timeless classic has been eagerly awaited by both the political and diecast collecting communities, fueled in part by the astronomical prices the first release is commanding on ebay. A typical search on the auction site brings up a handful of listings with asking prices running north of $400 or more. Our product will be available for only $99.99, and, like the original offering, comes complete with the entire Kennedy entourage as they sat in the X-100 on that fateful morning of November 22nd, 1963, driving through the streets of Dallas, Texas......[posted 3/3/2010]

Yat Ming Blares "Hail to the Chief"
When it comes to Americana, few icons stand out as much as the home grown automobile, particularly if they're connected to the US presidency. In the case of Yat Ming, this longtime player in the diecast replica market has steadily cobbled together a pantheon of presidential parade limousines, beginning with a 1938 Lincoln all the way up to George Walker Bush's 2005 uparmored Cadillac. Solidly built and replete with opening doors, flags and chrome appointments, these hefty 1:18 scale parade limousines are being offered at the incredible price of $49.99 apiece, making them affordable tributes to the presidential conveyances, several of which have become etched into our collective conciousness through historical events...[posted 3/8/2009]

Minichamps Goes Off Roading
First announced some two years ago, Minichamps has finally begun shipping out their 1934 Mercedes G4 parade limousine to its dealer network. Painted in grey with black fenders and a blackened interior, this six-wheeled, open-topped vehicle was capable of travelling off-road, thus making it one of the first cars capable of handling rough terrain as well as blacktop surfaces. Minichamps, a German-based modelmaker, is downplaying its role in the rise of the Third Reich, due to obvious political considerations both within the country and abroad...[posted 2/20/2009]

Minichamps Celebrates the Queen's Golden Jubilee!
Six years after Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 50th Anniversary as ruler of Britannia, Minichamps announced their intent to commemorate the heralded event in true automotive fashion. Due out later in July, the all-new 1:43 scale 2002 Bentley state limousine has been replicated in exquisite detail, right down to the car's gleaming white walls and Bentley hood ornament. More importantly Minichamps has been granted the exclusive license by Bentley to produce this replica, meaning no other model maker can celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee in similar fashion. Take note of this offering as soon as possible because its likely this commemorative will be snapped up quite quickly when it reaches our shores. ....[posted 7/11/2008]

Long before Hitler's rise to power, Daimler-Benz worked on the development of a heavy off-road sedan for the Reichswehr (German military). In 1934, a three-axle car was created, called the "Type G4". Because it was too heavy and too costly for the Reichswehr, the car would probably have faded into history if not for Hitler and other important figures of the time.
