Corgi Diecast Military Aircraft

Corgi, the leading name in diecast scale models and one of Britain's best known brands, has been producing models for over 40 years. Corgi's famous model vehicles captured the imagination of millions of baby boomers and, what were once simply toys for boys, are highly sought-after in the expanding collectibles market.

Corgi Touts Their Mid-Year Lineup
In an effort to stay one step ahead of the competition, UK-based Corgi revealed details concerning their mid-year military aircraft lineup. Loads of repaints are in the offing, along with several new toolings, including their first ever 1:72 scale rendition of the Westland Whirlwind medium lift helicopter. The new mix will also include a 1:32 scale model of an early war Supermarine Spitfire and a 1:72 scale take on the Boulton Paul Defiant night fighter. We fully expect some additional US-skewed aircraft to join the fray, but we thought you might want to get a gander at those aircraft we do know about. Images for all of the latest introductions have now been posted.....[posted 1/7/2010]

January Looks Especially Promising for Corgi
Its been awhile since we've received any newly tooled aircraft from the house of Corgi , so January is shaping up to become an important month for this stalwart model maker. For openers, we've just taken delivery on their eagerly awaited BAC TSR-2 strike aircraft, a product of the Cold War that was designed to take on the best the Soviet Air Force could throw at us. On the repaint stage, we're ogling an all-new Hawker T7 Hunter fighter along with a sharp-looking SH-3 Sea King clad in a Royal Navy blue Search and Rescue operational scheme.

Further down the road, Corgi has confirmed the imminent release of their German Dornier Do-17 light bomber, a WWII-era twin-engine level bomber which was designed, at least in theory, to outrun any defending single-engine fighters set upon them by the enemy. Other aircraft are slated for a January/February release, including a pair of Westand Lynx attack helicopters, Hermann Goring's WWI vintage D VII fighter, and a Luftwaffe Dornier Do-215 schnellbomber.....[posted 1/1/2010]

Corgi Debuts Their First Half 2010 Aviation Archives Range
Looking to build upon their successful 2009 lineup, Corgi drew back the curtains on their first half 2010 Aviation Archive range. While there were no new toolings unveiled, several aircraft looked especially appealing, such as this two piece set containing a Mark XIV Spitfire and German V-1 "Doodlebug" flying bomb. Also of note was a new B-17F Flying Fortress heavy bomber in US markings and a Blackburn Buccaneer strike aircraft in an earth tone camouflage pattern. You can find the complete list of new military aircraft in our Corgi First Half 2010 Introductions subcategory found within the Corgi aircraft section....[posted 10/22/2009]
