The transverse leaf spring suspension remained, but the front spring was relocated ahead of the axle to allow more interior volume. The body was lowered and new "Center-Poise" seating improved comfort. The 1935 Ford was a thorough refresh on the popular V8-powered Ford. Upon taking control of the company, the "Bentley Boys" went in search of even more power and developed the 4½ Litre Supercharged model, also known as the "Blower Bentley", in 1929 at Henry Birkin's racing workshops in Welwyn Garden City. Long before Hitler's rise to power, Daimler-Benz worked on the development of a heavy off-road sedan for the Reichswehr (German military). In 1934, a three-axle car was created, called the "Type G4". Because it was too heavy and too costly for the Reichswehr, the car would probably have faded into history if not for Hitler and other important figures of the time. Because it was too heavy and too costly for the Reichswehr, the car would probably have faded into history if not for Hitler and other important figures of the time. In 1930, German car maker Mercedes decided to produce a limousine "fit for a king." Forever known as the 'Grand Mercedes', the 770K Mercedes Limousine was eventually pressed into service by noneother than Adolf Hitler, soon after he became Reich Chancellor of Germany in 1933. The early development of the "Peoples Car" took root in two forms: first, with Dr. Ferdinand Porsche's quest to build a small car, and second, with Adolf Hitler's desire to emulate the very successful US car builder, Henry Ford.
