Minichamps MIN100139700 2002 Bentley State Limousine "The Queen's Car" - The Golden Throne Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II (1:18 Scale) "Her Majesty The Queen of Canada has been unfalteringly by our side to celebrate our successes and to help us to grow together. Fifty years after her Accession to the Throne, Elizabeth II remains a symbol of continuity, stability and tradition in a world that is under a barrage of constant change. That is why Canadians are proud to celebrate the Golden Jubilee."
- Sheila Copps, Minister of Canadian Heritage, 2002

The Bentley State Limousine is an official state car created by Bentley for Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of her Golden Jubilee in 2002. The vehicle's twin-turbocharged, 6.75-litre V8 Engine has been modified from Bentley's Arnage R version to produce 400 hp and 616 lbft (835 Nm) of torque. Maximum speed is 130 mph (209 km/h).

The State Limousine is three feet longer than a standard Bentley Arnage, 10 inches (254 mm) taller, and six inches (152.4 mm) wider. It is equipped with broad suicide doors, called "coach doors" which are hinged at the rear and open almost at a 90 degree angle.

The car has been given an armor-plated cladding, a mine-resistant floor, armored glass, and a cabin that can be sealed against a gas attack. These security and safety measures hike the car's weight to almost 4000 kg (8818 lb), and it rides on run-flat tires.

Only two of these exclusive luxurious vehicles were ever built to a bespoke design, both for the Queen, making it even rarer than the legendary Rolls-Royce Phantom IV, of which only 18 were built, exclusively for royalty and heads of state.

The Bentley is used only on official engagements and, when the Queen is aboard, is always escorted by a covert police vehicle, usually a black Jaguar XJ or dark green Range Rover. Members of the Queen's entourage including royal protection staff travel in a silver Volkswagen Caravelle T5. For non-official journeys, the Queen will usually be driven in an armored Daimler Super V8, similar to that used by the Prime Minister. On visits to Balmoral and Sandringham, as well as in the film, The Queen, she has also been seen at the wheel of a Land Rover Defender.

Pictured here is a 1:18 scale diecast replica of the Bentley State Limousine "The Queen's Car" used during The Golden Throne Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Comes in a handsome presentation case. Sold Out!

Historical Account: "For Queen and Country" - The Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II marked the fiftieth anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne. It was celebrated with large-scale events throughout London, the capital of the United Kingdom, in June 2002, as well as in her other Realms, as she and Prince Philip toured them throughout the year. The official "Jubilee Days" were held to coincide with the Queen's Official Birthday. Unlike the Silver Jubilee in 1977, international goodwill trips were scheduled months in advance, and first started in February.

The two other royal jubilees in the 20th century had been marked by a Fleet Review - there was to have been one for this jubilee, but it was cancelled on cost grounds (or, in a sense, postponed until 2005, and the International Fleet Review).

The Queen began the Jubilee year by embarking on visits to her Realms outside the United Kingdom. The first one visited was Jamaica on February 18th; the Royals had not made a trip to the country in eight years. This came at a particularly painful time for the Royal Family as it occurred just three days after the funeral of the Queen's sister, Princess Margaret. After two days in Jamaica, the Queen and her husband, Prince Philip, continued on to New Zealand, making stops in major cities such as Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington. The Queen was then received in Adelaide on February 27th by Peter Hollingworth, for a five-day tour of Australia, visiting places in South Australia and Queensland.
