Minichamps MIN122960046 1996 Aprilia 125CC GP Motorcycle - Valentino Rossi (1:12 Scale) "I'm lucky because I don't feel too much pressure - it's only in the last hour before the race, and even then it's good, positive pressure."
- Valentino Rossi, 5-Time World Champion Moto Bike Racer

Born on February 16th, 1979 in Urbino, Italy, Valentino Rossi grew up with motor sports. His father, Graziano Rossi, a former GP rider himself, supported his son's enthusiasm for motor bikes early on. In fact, Valentino took over his racing number "46" and made it his hallmark. In 1996 Rossi participated in the World Championship for Aprilia. In Brno he achieved his first pole position and his first victory. After this "year of preparation" in 1997 he showed his excellent talent to his rivals. With 321 points he won 11 of 15 races and in the 12th race in Brno he got the Champion's title prematurely.

In 1998, Rossi ascended toward the 250cc class, rode for Aprilia, and became Vice World Champion. In 1999, he won with the Aprilia type RSW 250 in 9 of 14 races and with 309 points his second World Championship title. But this was not enough - in 2000, he changed to the 500cc 'King's Class'. He started for the Nastro Azzuro Team with a Honda type V4 factory bike and by the next season he won another World Championship. In 2002 and 2003 he continued his series of victories. On a 4-stroke Honda type RC211V, Rossi won the World Championship for the Repsol Honda Team, which was now named "MotoGP." In 2004, he changed to the Gauloises Fortuna Yamaha Team and achieved the impossible - he again won the MotoGP World Championship. In 2005, he reaffirmed his position with his 7th World Champion title.
